Why Labia Reduction Enhances More Than Your Appearance

For many women, cosmetic surgery can affect something that everyone can see. A facial operation is immediately apparent. A breast enlargement or reduction is evident in the shape of your figure, even if the viewing of them naked is a privilege reserved for your significant other.

A labia reduction is another matter. By its very nature, the most private and hidden parts of the anatomy are exclusively a matter for you and, in a relationship, your partner, unless you wear fairly tight gym wear or swimming gear, in which case the ‘camel toe’ appearance can be seen.

True, a doctor or cosmetic surgeon may see the area naked, but those doing so on a purely medical basis will not be too concerned with appearance, only with function.

In the case of a cosmetic surgeon, there is a subtle difference; they will only see it if you want something done down there. If you want a labia majora reduction in London, your surgeon will be able to guide you not only in what the operation involves but what result is possible.

As with any aspect of your appearance, some things may not trouble you and others may be areas of sensitivity, anxiety and even embarrassment. If this applies to your labia, it can make you feel unattractive and either less willing to have sex or at least feel negative about the experience, reducing the enjoyment of it.

Labia surgery is almost always cosmetic. The reason it is desired by some is because of the appearance the vulva lips are left in – such as being saggy or wrinkled – as a result of factors such as age, excess weight or childbirth.

If there is a lot of hanging skin or simply a large volume of it, the sight may not be too appealing to you, whether or not your partner feels the same.

The first thing to note is that labia majora reduction surgery is not the same as a labiaplasty. A labiaplasty involves the labia minora, the inner lips of the vulva, which can protrude and be excessive in size.

Problems with the labia minora can include the skin getting twisted and pinched, leading to discomfort in exercise or intercourse. Dealing with it is still a cosmetic procedure, not usually available on the NHS.

However, while the operation on the outer lips is not quite the same as on the inner lips, certain issues still apply. The operation is a short one, but you will still need to take about six weeks to recover and will have to avoid intercourse during this time.

The latter issue will, however, not be too much of a burden. If you were unhappy with your vulva’s appearance before the operation, the improvement after will mean the wait is worth it, since you will be able to head to the bedroom with a new-found feeling of confidence and freedom, which should bring highly enjoyable results for you and your partner.

It’s not just the appearance that will be better; by feeling better about yourself you can gain confidence and experience a better sex life.
