Are Butt Lifts The Latest Trend?

When it comes to plastic surgery, everyone is familiar with procedures like breast enlargements or nose jobs. But it might become increasingly common for women to seek thigh and buttock lift surgery in London.

This might seem odd to some in an age where being very slim has been promoted as a cultural ideal. But that could be changing as attitudes to body size shift around the globe.

As Indian website GG2 notes, a study by Dr Neelam Vashi, a dermatologist at Boston University, revealed that there has been a growth in ‘butt uplifts’ as a new generation of plus-size models have taken centre stage and made curves fashionable.

It noted that the Daily Mail report on the phenomenon had revealed a growing number of British women going overseas for the procedure, under the influence of the likes of Ashley Graham.

However, this is also something that needs to be done safely; there have been some bad results and even fatalities from botched operations, so British women might be wiser to find a skilled practitioner in London with all the right credentials and an impeccable track record.

Where there’s a story on plastic surgery, the Mail is never far away and, sure enough, it has reported on one surgeon in Florida who has emerged as something of a star in his field. Dr Alex Earle who works in Miami, has claimed he can make women look 25 years younger with a Brazilian-style butt lift.

It is worth noting that he has taken a low-risk approach: his surgery is not available to anyone with a BMI over 30 or aged over 50.

Talk of Brazilian bottoms does highlight that there are some cultures where curves in that area have long been celebrated. Indeed, Brazil takes this as far as its ‘Miss Bum Bum’ competition, which is perhaps like ‘rear of the year’ except competitors actively take part.

British fashions and styles may not have gone anything like that far and probably never will. But as curves become more fashionable, there is definitely a growing demand for bum uplifts.
