The vaser liposuction procedure includes the following steps:
Step 1 – Anesthesia
Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. The choices include local anesthesia, intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Your doctor will recommend the best choice for you.
Step 2 – The incision
Liposuction is performed through small, inconspicuous incisions, about 4 mm length.
First, diluted local anesthesia is infused to reduce bleeding and pain. Then an ultrasound probe is introduced, which will break the fat cells, and finally a hollow tube, or cannula, is inserted through the incisions to aspirate the excess fat.
Step 3 & Recovery
You will experience swelling and bruising for a few weeks.
Moderate pain is also common but easy to control with the medications you will be given.
You will need to attend 2 to 3 post operative appointments in order to check on your wound healing and result.
Have someone drive you home, remember you are not legally allowed to drive a car during the following 48 hours after general anaesthesia.
Rest in a comfortable position on your bed or couch.
Drink at least 1.5 litres of water per day.
Take pain medication and antibiotics as prescribed.
Have a light diet, and avoid very spicy food and alcohol.
Wear your compression garments as instructed.
It’s imperative to be moderately active and mobilized. Be sure you walk for a minimum of 60 mins a day.
