Labia Majora Reduction Procedure in Details

The procedure consists in removal of crescents of skin from the inner portion of each labia majora. The amount to be removed depends on the amount of excess tissue.

In some cases, when there is atrophy of fatty tissue, a small amount of fat can be transferred from another area of the body into the labia majora (fat transfer). The resulting scar is barely noticeable after a few weeks as it is placed along the inside of the 2 labia majora (interlabial fold), in between labia majora and minora.

The closure is usually done with very thin absorbable sutures, placed internally inside the wound. The result of the labia majora reduction will be a more pleasant and younger labia majora, improving the general look of external genitals.

The labia majora reduction is often performed at the same time as labia minora reduction and hoodectomy. During the first weeks, you will experience moderate pain, swelling and bruising, and minimal bleeding. You will be prescribed painkillers and antibiotics for 7 days. Return to work is after 5/7 days.

The patient will be able to resume moderate exercise and sexual life after 4 to 6 weeks. It is advisable to keep the area clean and you can take a shower normally. As for any other surgery, also labia majoraplasty involves minimal risk of complications like infections or bleeding. The scar will be barely noticeable 3 months after surgery. Once the area is fully healed, the sensitivity of the genitals will go back to normal.

Labiaplasty with Dr Mileto / Oct 2019

I had my labiaplasty done 16/10 with surgery went as it should, I had to stay in the house for nearly 2-weeks, as I couldn’t walk properly and I was very swollen. It is now 2-weeks post op and the swelling has gone down loads and I can now go back to work. It is still a bit uncomfortable to walk but manageable. It looks ten times better than what it did before and I am so glad I went through with it! Been wanting this op for ages!
