Like any other cosmetic procedure, it would be ideal to be in good health generally,
and you might be asked from your surgeon to suspend some medications which can increase risk of bleeding or clotting.
You will need to have some areas with excess of fat, from where fat can be harvested and injected into the buttocks.
Prior to surgery and after surgery, in order to preserve your own fat deposit, it’s advisable not to be on any diet, and also intensive exercise meant to burn your fat, must be avoided during this time. Very slim persons are rarely a good candidate for this surgery: in these cases a silicone implant can be considered instead to increase buttuck volume.

What Does the Brazilian Buttock Lift Procedure Involve?
Brazilian buttock lift or BBL is one of most the demanded plastic surgery procedures in the world and it is very important that you have all the informations about its risks and benefits.
The BBL is a procedure that combines standard liposuction or ultrasound liposuction with the transfer of the patient’s own fat from other parts of the body into the buttocks.
Because the fat cells come from your own body, there is no chance of rejection, but the fat cells, transferred from an area to another of the same body, will have about 70% chances of survival.
In other words, some of the fat injected will be reabsorbed naturally by your body, so that you will be able to appreciate the final result of your buttock enlargement only after a few weeks after these processes has finished and the swelling has been reabsorbed. In order to increase the rate of fat survival, the fat will be purified and washed prior to his injection under the skin.
Similarly to other cosmetic procedures, The Brazilian butt lift can be combined with other surgeries like breast augmentation or liposculpture, or tummy tuck, reshaping the all body.

Who is an Ideal Candidate?
Is BBL Safe?
Over the last 10 years, the gluteal fat grafting has been object of very bad publicity, since some statistics reported a very high mortality rate for this procedure (1 in 3000 according to the American Society of Plastic Surgery). Most recently The American Society of Plastic Surgery has issued a task force to establish guidelines for surgeons about how to safely perform this surgery. Like any other cosmetic procedure, there are possible risks and complications you need to be aware of, including fat embolism and infections.
However when performed by an experienced, qualified plastic surgeon who follows all safety protocols, the procedure is generally safe and gives satisfying results. It essential that fat is always injected above the gluteal muscles, so under the gluteal skin, in order to prevent fat from being injected into blood stream (fat embolism). As with any surgical procedure, there’s no 100% guarantee you’ll achieve the exact results you desire, especially because fat can be reabsorbed by your body; many patients will require a second surgery to optimise the results, which adds to the cost and recovery time.
How Long is Recovery After the Procedure?
The procedure can be planned as a day case, or you might require a 1-night stay.
Return to work is generally after 2 weeks, you will need to wear a compressive garment for 4 weeks and, very importantly, you will need, as much as possible to avoid sitting on your buttock for about 3 weeks.
