The hoodectomy or clitoral hood reduction is the procedure that reduces the size of the clitoral hood, reducing the amount of skin covering the clitoris. The procedure is usually done at the same time as a labia minora reduction, to maintain the ideal proportion between labia minora and the prepuce.

The procedure will not reduce the clitoris sensitivity, actually, the reduction of skin overhanging the clitoris will usually have a benefit over the clitoris sexual stimulation.

Mr Mileto likes to perform this procedure under general anaesthesia, so the patient does not feel any pain during the surgery. The procedure is very straightforward, takes less than 30 mins in the theatre, and usually does not require an overnight stay, so you will be able to go home a few hours after surgery.

The surgery used involves a bilateral excision of the tissues covering the clitoris. When the clitoral hood is reduced, the clitoris and nerves are not actually affected. The resulting scar will be a line on both sides of the prepuce, and when a labia minora reduction is performed at the same time, the hoodectomy scar will continue downwards with the labia minora reduction scar. In some cases, with more skin to remove the clitoral hoodectomy scar might look like an inverted “V” or “Y”.

Ideally, the surgery should reduce, but not remove completely, the amount of skin covering the clitoris.
