How To Prepare For Plastic Surgery

Once you have booked in for plastic surgery, the only things left to do are get excited about your new look and make sure you are prepared for the procedure.

First, get yourself as healthy as possible prior to the operation by quitting cigarettes and alcohol at least two weeks beforehand. These can increase risks during surgery and lead to complications, so steer clear until you have recovered.

It is also a good idea to reduce the amount of caffeine you normally consume, as high levels in the bloodstream can cause problems in surgery.

Do not have any aspirin products a fortnight before the procedure as well, as these are known to thin blood, increasing the risk of bleeding.

Make sure you have everything ready that you will need after the surgery. This includes pre-cooked healthy meals, painkillers, extra bandages, and plenty of books or films to keep you entertained while resting.

Plan for someone to drive you home after your operation and, if possible, to look after you for a few days while you recover. Those with children should also have someone who can look after the kids, so you are not rushing around after little ones, which could cause damage to the wounds.

Most importantly, get prepared mentally for the procedure. Have a good attitude and realistic expectations of what the outcome will be, and be patient to see results, as swelling can distort appearances until it settles down.
