Labia Majora Augmentation With Fat Explained

Autologous fat transfer is used on several occasions by plastic surgeons. The surgery involves aspirating the fat from another area of your body with liposuction and injecting it into the area where is needed.

When women are not happy about the sagging, ageing appearance of their labia majora, the reason can be a skin excess or lack of volume, caused by lack of fat. This situation might result in ageing, weight loss or delivery.

In order to restore the ideal balance of volume and fat within the labia majora, your surgeon might suggest using your own fat and injected it into the labia majora. The fat can be harvested from any area of your body, but usually in these cases your surgeon will use the fat from close areas of your body, such as lower abdomen or inner thighs. Mr Mileto likes to perform this procedure under general anaesthesia, so the patient does not feel any pain during the surgery.

The procedure is very straightforward, takes less than 30 mins in theatre, and usually does not require an overnight stay, so you will be able to go home few hours after surgery.

Labia Majora Augmentation With Fat Recovery

The surgery will leave a 2 mm scar on the area where the fat has been taken, and a 2 mm scar over each labia majora. These cars will become barely visible within a few weeks.

During the first weeks, you will experience moderate pain, swelling and bruising, and minimal bleeding. You will be prescribed painkillers and antibiotics for 7 days. Return to work is after 5/7 days.

The patient will be able to resume moderate exercise and sexual life after 4 to 6 weeks. It is advisable to keep the area clean and you can take a shower normally. As for any other surgery, also labia augmentation with fat involves minimal risk of complications like infections or bleeding, pain, bruising and swelling. About 20 to 30% of the fat injected will usually be reabsorbed by your body, so your surgeon might inject a bit more fat than needed, to be to achieve a visible result.

Once the area is fully healed, the sensitivity of the genitals will go back to normal.
