When Can You Go Without A Bra After Breast Augmentation?

There are many types of breast augmentation operation, and people will opt for a boob lift for many different reasons, from adding symmetry to their body to forming part of a breast reconstruction operation.

Regardless of the reasons for breast augmentation, one common part of every single breast surgery is that a major part of aftercare is to wear a compression sports bra.

This is an essential part of the treatment process as it helps to keep your breasts comfortable as your body gets used to the implants and keeps bandages and dressings in place to help the surgical scars repair as cleanly as possible.

A medical compression bra provides pressure where your chest needs it, prevents swelling and helps implants settle in place.

You should wear your medical bra for as long as your surgeon advises, which is typically between six weeks and three months depending on how well you heal and progress after checkups and after your stitches are removed.

Typically it is worn 24 hours a day, including whilst sleeping, but after the six-week mark it can vary depending on progress, and in some cases you can transition from a medical bra to a supportive sports bra or a bra with a front-clasp.

At this point, you might in some cases be able to take your bra off once you get the okay from your surgeon, but in the early days after your recovery, it should be kept to a minimum as over the next several months the size of your implants will change slightly.

Typically it is best to buy low-cost bras in multiple sizes whilst the swelling is subsiding and experiment with different materials and styles to find one that feels most comfortable to you.

As well as this, try to avoid lifting anything heavy whilst your breasts are recovering and sleep on your back during the night.
