\t\t\t\tHaving an operation can be a daunting experience for some people. There can be trepidation before going into theatre, nervousness around needles and a fear of being under general anaesthetic. In addition, there is the matter of the recovery process to consider.<\/span><\/p>\n

All that may be unavoidable when the operation is essential, but it might weigh very heavily on the minds of those considering a cosmetic procedure such as a breast enlargement. The first thing to consider is that it won\u2019t be <\/span>anywhere near as hard as getting over a mastectomy<\/span><\/a>. Patients who have an entire breast removed and an implant fitted will have had substantial tissue removal and will get more scarring and greater incisions, all of which may leave them with more soreness in those areas, although of course where the flesh has gone there will be no sensation.<\/span><\/p>\n

While post-mastectomy recovery will require a patient to take around four weeks off work, the time is usually around <\/span>half as long for a breast enlargement<\/span><\/a>. Normally after a boob job you could go home the same day, although overnight stays may be required occasionally if the op was late in the day. Sometimes pain relief will be needed.<\/span><\/p>\n

The discomfort should be relatively mild, although it should be a week before you drive a car and it is recommended you wear a sports bra 24 hours a day for three months to enable the implant to settle.<\/span><\/p>\n
